Inspired by the 60s

I had to go to Sunday School with white gloves, hat and a handbag, just like a miniature mum, in a dress made by her – and exactly the same as hers! I mean, who wanted to do that?! We just wanted to kick against it all.

~Marion Foale

The 1950s and 60s, the ages of early post-modernism, marks special significance in the evolution of fashion. The ways in which the world began to style themselves reflected the obvious shift in dominant ideology. That of which urged people to step aside from their comfort zones and express themselves through the clothes they wore. Innovative designers and fashion icons drove this fashion movement, drawing a dividing line between the generations, creating a new market for youth fashion... And we all lived happily ever after! (I mean we can ignore the fact poodle skirts were a thing )...
In respect to those admirable ladies who saved us from living like poor Marion, I have put together inspired outfits from some of the ultimate style icons of the swinging sixties and fifties.
I must also mention that my hair and skin colour varies throughout these pictures as they were taken at different times, between which I had my hair highlighted and managed to catch the sun

How to style layers

Diamonds are a girls best friend... and so are layers. As a teen in an all girls school, I feel constantly under pressure to rock up to school everyday along with social events in an array of different outfits. A 21st century problem at its prime. But here is how to fix it!
Deep down I'm a fashion victim at heart, face the facts, a lot of us are for the latest trends. By next season however, we have accumulated a wardrobe full of cold shoulder tops and fufu frilled blouses which are 'soo last year.' This is where layering comes in! By pairing more than one top together, be it outdated or over-worn, a new and unique top is created. Just make sure you pick colours and styles that complement each other and avoid the 'do you have any other clothes?' OOTD.

How to style Festival Wear

I'm sorry for the absence of  posts during the past two weeks, I have been bed ridden with the dreaded lurgy and burdened with bulks of school work.
Anyway, Let's talk about the F word.
Festivals.
It has become a pretty hard topic to avoid with thousands of coachella pics plastered over social media by our favourite celebrities, leaving us  green with envy and quite simply depressed that:
1) We were not given an invite to that very exclusive REVOLVE party with the highly Instagram-worthy inflatable watermelon.
2) We still have a good month until the likes of Glastonbury and other festivals begin here in  Europe.
I mean, music, dance and partying... The
best features of festivals right? WRONG. For me and increasingly more others it's the intricate fashion statements that complement the muddy ground, vibrant atmosphere and bursting vibes...  Alongside an excuse not to wash your hair for 4 days. Or is that part just me...? Festivals highlight not only our summer holidays but a turning point in your favourite shops' summer lines. So, inspired by some 2017 iconic Coachella looks are 5 simple outfits to refresh you with the reoccurring western bohemian vibes everybody rocks year in and year out.

How to style sports wear

The shock horror of Easter's warm presence that means bare legs and for those brave souls- bikinis, has catalysed many (including myself) to finally carry out their New Year’s resolution: to stay fit and healthy. I mean, four months late is better than never right? In honour of this I have combined sport style fashion with every day or smarter wear to inspire your pre-summer workout. Many celebrity fashion icons including the likes of Cara Delevingne and the Hadid sisters have illustrated to the world that they can stay comfortable in tracksuit bottoms whilst parading the city streets and posing for paparazzi... So why can't you? Even if you don't want to do the exercise, you can still own the look.

Spring into florals - How to style florals

Aka spring into being styled like a 'pretty girl.' I am not usually a great fan of florals, in fact they branch outside (get it?) my comfort zone. I USED to believe that floral items of clothing parallel the style of elderly ladies who take a weekly visit to the M&S cafe. Emphasis on USED TO. There are some beautifully patterned floral items of clothing entering your high street stores at the moment, correlating not so perfectly with the daffodils that SHOULD be escaping their buds by now!! Nevertheless, around this time of the year, you can always rely on a full floral fantasy to guarantee a smooth transition between winter-spring-summer.
